The 2024 Canning Classic was held this morning from the beautiful Shelley Sailing Club. Perfect conditions with high water 400mm on the Gardiner water metre and a very gentle breeze. The club put on a great race with Hamburgers and Gelati’s for all the paddlers not to mention about 50% of the field going home with a prize.
APOLOGIES : I think i read out the finish time for a few paddlers rather than their corrected Actual Times, that would explain a few worried looks from people who felt they went faster than the time i read out – you did! Apart from my mistake i think the day went very well, a very big thankyou goes out to all the CRCC members who attended and especially to those who assisted, in particular;
- the CRCC Social Paddlers who did all the catering;
- Chris Graham who organised Dr Jaggs, the Gelati Van, the prizes themselves and the Professional photographer – once we figure out how to get the photos we will let you all know.
- Bull and Nicole Orton for donating some of the Kayaking prizes
- Simon O’Sullivan for organising Webscorer registrations.
- Donna for being a great sales lady and selling $500 worth of merchandise on the day.
- and the rest of the Committee for all the pre thought effort that needs to go into the event.
